The Cabinet of Ministers has given its approval to the amended version of the electricity sector reforms bill (08th).
Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara, announced that approval has been granted to gazette the amended version of the new electricity sector bill and to present it to Parliament for approval.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Wijesekara stated that the bill will be gazetted this week and presented to Parliament in the last week of April.
Furthermore, according to the Minister, the public will have a period of 02 weeks from the day it is presented to Parliament to challenge the bill.
