The European Union and Commonwealth election observers have been authorized to monitor the upcoming presidential election, following a request made by these bodies to the Election Commission.
Chairman of the National Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, stated that the relevant groups have been granted permission to begin their monitoring activities starting from the pre-election period.
Meanwhile, local monitoring groups, including the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL), are also preparing to engage in the election monitoring process.
