The Road Development Authority (RDA) has initiated a special program to repair roads and bridges damaged by recent adverse weather conditions.
RDA Director General S. M. P. Suriyabandara reported that roads in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern Provinces have been severely impacted by flooding, with a bridge in Batticaloa collapsing as a result. He assured that an alternative bridge will be constructed promptly.
In the Uva and Central Provinces, landslides have caused significant roadblocks. The RDA is actively working to clear these obstructions and restore connectivity.
Authorities are prioritizing repairs to ensure affected areas regain access as quickly as possible.
