The Public Health Inspectors’ Union (PHIU) has launched a program to inspect food and beverages sold in areas with high public foot traffic, as part of preparations for the upcoming festive season.
According to Upul Rohana, president of the PHIU, approximately 1,750 Public Health Inspectors have been deployed to ensure food safety and quality during this busy period.
The initiative also includes inspections of raw materials used in festive season food production to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Since December 1, Public Health Inspectors have conducted over 150 raids nationwide as part of this intensified effort to safeguard public health.
