A/L Exam Subjects Postponed by Weather to Be Held in Early January 2026

December 2, 2025

The remaining subjects of the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination, which were postponed due to severe weather conditions across the country, will be conducted in early January 2026, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Nalaka Kaluwewe announced.

He further stated that, following an assessment of conditions at both provincial and district levels, schools in areas not affected by transport disruptions, communication issues, or power outages will reopen on December 16.

Decisions regarding the reopening of schools in affected areas will be made as soon as possible in coordination with the relevant provincial and district authorities, he added.

The Secretary also confirmed that universities, National Colleges of Education, and vocational training institutes unaffected by adverse weather are expected to reopen on December 8.

Additionally, if any higher education institution encounters practical difficulties in reopening, institutional heads will be granted the authority to determine a suitable date.
