The Peliyagoda Central Fish Market Complex has reported a significant increase in fish prices due to ongoing adverse weather conditions.
According to Jayasiri Wickramarachchi, Chairman of the Trade Association, the price of popular fish varieties has surged:
- Mackerel: Now priced at Rs. 2,200 per kilogram
- Seer Fish: Selling at Rs. 2,500 per kilogram
The adverse weather has disrupted fishing activities, leading to reduced supply and higher prices for consumers.
