The latest round of peace talks between Afghanistan’s Taliban administration and Pakistan, held in Istanbul, Turkey, has ended without reaching an agreement.
According to the Taliban regime, Pakistan attempted to place blame on the Afghan side for the ongoing tensions and disagreements between the two countries.
Despite the lack of progress, the Taliban expressed appreciation to the Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar for hosting and mediating the discussions.
Criticizing Pakistan’s stance, the Taliban reiterated that Afghan territory will not be used against any country, nor will the regime allow any foreign power to violate Afghanistan’s sovereignty and independence. They affirmed that their policy on this matter remains unchanged.
The Taliban further stated that safeguarding the people and the territorial integrity of Afghanistan is both an Islamic and national duty. They vowed to defend the country against any aggression “with the help of Allah and the support of its people.”
