Showers or thundershowers are expected at several locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Monaragala districts after 1:00 p.m., the Department of Meteorology said.
A few morning showers are also likely in coastal areas of the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, along with the Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts during the early hours of the day.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the sun’s apparent northward movement, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka between April 5 and April 15. Today (08), areas such as Warakapola, Aranayaka, Gampola, Bibile, Inginiyagala, and Akkaraipattu will experience the sun directly overhead at around 12:12 p.m.
