Arumahandi Janith Madhusankha de Silva, alias Arumahandi Janith Madhusankha de Silva, widely known as “Podi Lassie,” was escorted from Bandaranaike International Airport early this morning (27) following his arrival in the country.
The suspect, described as a high-profile alleged drug trafficker wanted in connection with multiple homicide investigations, had previously been apprehended in India.
According to F. U. Wootler, Assistant Superintendent of Police and Media Spokesperson of Sri Lanka Police, the suspect will be handed over to the Galle District Crimes Division for further investigations.
“Podi Lassie” was repatriated to Sri Lanka by a special police team following coordination with Indian authorities.
Further investigations are ongoing.
