Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka has issued an Amber advisory for heavy rainfall affecting parts of the country.
The advisory, issued at 1.00 p.m. today (18), will remain in effect until 1.00 p.m. tomorrow (19).
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some locations in the Uva Province and in the Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning during thundershowers. Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to remain vigilant and follow official updates and safety guidance.
