The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning affecting the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
The advisory, released at 12:15 p.m. today (05), will remain in effect until 11:00 p.m.
According to the Met Department, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are expected to occur in parts of these areas. Temporary and localized strong winds may also accompany the thundershowers.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from lightning and related weather conditions.
