The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of severe lightning across multiple parts of the country.
The advisory, issued at 12.00 noon today (03), will remain in effect until 11.00 p.m.
Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are expected at several locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, Northcentral and Uva provinces, as well as in the districts of Trincomalee, Mannar, Vavuniya and Mullaittivu after 1.00 p.m.
The department also warned of temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The public has been urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage and ensure safety during lightning activity.
