Annual Reports on Court-Ordered Drug Destruction Now Mandatory – Circular Issued

February 15, 2026

A special circular has been issued requiring that an annual report on dangerous drugs destroyed under court orders be submitted to the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) before December 31 each year.

The circular was issued under the signature of Prasanna Alwis, Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission Sri Lanka.

Under the new guidelines, comprehensive annual reports detailing the destruction of poisons, opium, and all other categories of dangerous drugs must be formally submitted to the NDDCB for regulatory oversight and record-keeping purposes.

The move aims to strengthen accountability and ensure proper documentation of court-authorised drug disposal across the country.
