BYD Clarifies Global Vehicle Recall Does Not Affect Sri Lanka

October 28, 2025

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has clarified that its recently announced recall of around 115,000 BYD Tang and Yuan Pro vehicles does not apply to Sri Lanka.

In a statement, BYD said the recall was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to safety and product quality, emphasizing that it proactively conducts recalls when necessary to protect consumers and maintain vehicle integrity.

“We would like to clarify that this recall applies only to certain BYD Tang vehicles manufactured between March 28, 2015, and July 28, 2017, and certain Yuan Pro pure electric vehicles manufactured between February 6, 2021, and August 5, 2022. It is not applicable to Sri Lanka,” the company said.

BYD further stated that the Tang and Yuan Pro models have not been introduced or sold in the Sri Lankan market, and therefore, no BYD vehicles currently operating in Sri Lanka are affected by this recall.

All BYD vehicles in Sri Lanka — imported, distributed, and serviced exclusively through John Keells CG Auto (Pvt) Ltd. — are covered by comprehensive manufacturer warranties and supported by dedicated after-sales facilities with NEV-trained technicians, ensuring the highest standards of service and care.
