CAA Holds Discussions with Salt Manufacturers to Stabilize Prices

COLOMBO – The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) recently held a discussion with salt manufacturing companies to ensure the availability of high-quality salt for industrial and food use at reasonable prices.

The meeting, held on February 25 at the CAA headquarters, addressed issues such as fluctuating salt prices, seasonal shortages, and industry challenges. Representatives from 18 institutions, including government officials and leading salt producers, participated in the discussion, focusing on price stability to prevent consumer inconvenience.

Salt producers assured that locally manufactured salt would enter the market by the end of March at competitive prices. They also agreed to maintain stable prices until then, as per the CAA’s request.
