The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued a gazette notification (2414/02) outlining the maximum retail and wholesale prices for local rice varieties. The new pricing regulations came into effect immediately from yesterday (9).
Under the gazette, the CAA has strictly prohibited manufacturers, producers, suppliers, distributors, and traders from selling, supplying, displaying, or offering for sale the specified local rice varieties at prices exceeding the stipulated maximum.
Consumers are encouraged to report violations to ensure compliance with the new regulations aimed at stabilizing market prices and protecting public interests.
