The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, has expressed hope that justice will be served before the sixth anniversary of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Speaking at the Mass Communication Conference held at the Archbishop’s House in Colombo today (15), Cardinal Ranjith warned that if justice is not ensured, taking to the streets in protest may become necessary.
“Those who ruled the country made promises regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, but not a single one has been fulfilled. We brought this government to power to change that system. However, if the system does not change, we will have to reconsider our stance,” he stated.
The Cardinal also reiterated the demand for the government to fulfill the pledge made by the President at St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya. He emphasized that if a fair and just resolution is provided before the sixth anniversary, they will be satisfied. However, failure to act will leave them with no choice but to resume protests.
