The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has made arrangements to provide electricity for Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivals and related events taking place across the country this month, Minister Vijitha Herath announced.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (April 7), the Minister said necessary steps have already been taken to facilitate power supply for such events upon payment of the required fees.
He noted that event organizers will be able to obtain electricity from the CEB between April 15 and April 19 by completing the relevant procedures.
Minister Herath also stressed the importance of using electricity efficiently during the festive season, while recognizing the need for uninterrupted power for celebrations such as cultural events and musical shows.
He assured that the CEB will provide full support to ensure a continuous electricity supply during the specified period.
