Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, has revealed details regarding the BYD electric vehicles recently provided to the Deputy Governors of the Central Bank.
According to Karunanayake, 10 or 11 of these electric vehicles have been allocated to the Deputy Governors. He further disclosed that the recipients have also received a fuel allowance for these vehicles.
The MP noted that the fuel allowance was provided for a period of three months, and he had previously raised concerns about this matter in Parliament.
When questioned about why fuel is being provided for electric vehicles, Karunanayake remarked that such issues are symptomatic of problems faced by the government.
