The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced the key security features of the Rs. 2,000 commemorative banknote issued to mark its 75th anniversary.
According to the Central Bank, the banknote incorporates several advanced security features to help the public easily verify its authenticity.
When held up to the light, the lion holding a sword watermark and a fully transparent image are clearly visible, along with microtext embedded in the design.
When the note is tilted, the colour-changing security thread shifts from blue to green, revealing the Colombo Lighthouse clock tower and the numeral “2000”.
The banknote also includes six tactile strips designed to assist visually impaired users.
Under ultraviolet light, the anniversary theme and the foreground skyline appear in fluorescent dual colours, while the numerals also become visible, making the note machine-readable.
The Central Bank has urged the public to use these security features to identify genuine banknotes and prevent counterfeiting.
