Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake said that officials involved in the country’s loan transactions through the Central Bank must act with greater responsibility.
Speaking in Parliament, the MP stated that there are serious concerns regarding the manner in which the Central Bank is currently functioning. He noted that he has raised these issues on several occasions and that, in certain instances, questions have emerged as to whether the Central Bank’s actions are harmful to the country.
Ravi Karunanayake said that while some decisions taken by the Central Bank may be acceptable, there are situations in which even officials appear uncertain or divided over its actions.
He further stated that the reasons why he has been raising these concerns largely on his own regarding the Central Bank’s conduct will become clear in the near future.
