The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned Sandra Perera, a personal secretary to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to provide a statement regarding an ongoing investigation into a foreign trip allegedly funded through the Presidential Secretariat’s financial allocations.
Perera arrived at CID headquarters around 9:00 a.m. today (August 4), where officers began recording her statement in connection with the inquiry.
The investigation centers on a foreign visit that took place between September 13 and 24, 2023, which is suspected to have been financed using funds from the Presidential Secretariat.
In a related development, former Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake has also been summoned to appear before the CID tomorrow morning (August 5) to provide a statement regarding the same matter.
