Sri Lanka has earned significant international recognition at the 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards, with Colombo and Galle being named among the world’s top destinations in two major categories—delivering a major boost to the country’s tourism industry.
Sri Lanka’s commercial capital, Colombo, has been ranked 13th among the world’s best food destinations for 2026, placing the city among the globe’s most celebrated foodie capitals.
Meanwhile, Galle has secured a place among the world’s top five honeymoon destinations, further highlighting Sri Lanka’s appeal as a premier romantic getaway.
The rankings are based on reviews and ratings submitted by Tripadvisor users over a 12-month period. Less than one percent of Tripadvisor’s eight million global listings are selected for these prestigious awards.
For 2026, London, Dubai, and Rome topped the global food destination rankings, followed by cities including Paris, Bangkok, Osaka, New York, Singapore, Istanbul, Kyoto, Seoul, New Delhi, and Shanghai.
