Colombo High Court Rejects Request to Lift Freeze on Keheliya Rambukwella’s Bank Account

The Colombo High Court has rejected a request by attorneys representing former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to lift the freeze on his Parliamentary Branch bank account, which remains under investigation by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The ruling was delivered by High Court Judge Adithya Patabendi.

Previously, the court had issued an injunction order freezing multiple bank accounts and insurance agreements belonging to Rambukwella and his family as part of the bribery investigation. His Parliamentary Branch bank account, which holds his pension and Rs. 95.9 million in compensation for fire damage to his residence, was also affected by the order.

Rambukwella’s legal team had recently sought to unfreeze this account, but the High Court has now officially rejected the request.
