Colombo High Court Schedules Next Hearing in Chandrani Bandara’s Corruption Case for July 28

Following proceedings before High Court Judge Sahan Mapa Bandara, the Colombo High Court has set July 28 as the next hearing date in the corruption case filed against former Minister Chandrani Bandara.

The case, filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), alleges that Bandara unlawfully appointed H.M. Chandrawansa as Project Director of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and Dry Zone Development during her tenure under the previous Yahapalana government.

She is also accused of violating administrative procedures by making several illegal appointments to various positions within the ministry, allegedly placing political associates in public roles without due process.

The case was formally filed on May 20, following the submission of indictments on May 6. Bandara was later released on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 1 million each.

The court has instructed CIABOC to submit the relevant case documents by the next hearing date.
