The Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, announced that the report of the committee led by former Supreme Court Justice K.T. Chitrasiri, tasked with reviewing the allowances, perks, and privileges of Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers, and former Presidents, is currently under examination.
Dr. Jayatissa revealed this during the Cabinet press briefing held today (03). “After the president was elected, a committee was appointed to investigate the privileges of the Ministers, chaired by former Supreme Court Justice K.T. Chitrasiri. The committee’s report was handed over to the President yesterday, and its recommendations are now being studied,” he said.
The report includes recommendations to reassess and potentially limit the claims, allowances, and privileges granted to MPs, Ministers, and former Presidents.
The committee, chaired by Justice K.T. Chitrasiri, submitted its findings to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on December 2. Its members are:
- Mr. K.T. Chitrasiri (Chairman): Retired Supreme Court Judge
- Mr. D. Dissanayake: Retired Secretary to the Ministry
- Mrs. Jayantha C.T. Bulumulla: Retired District Secretary
