Former UNP Deputy Leader and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake says that Sri Lanka’s debt stock has increased by Rs. 300 billion in only seven days.

Karunanayake highlighted the country’s energy generation projections, noting that 16,500 gigawatts will be generated by 2025, increasing to 240,000 gigawatts by 2030, and 450,000 gigawatts by 2050.

He also pointed out that while the US dollar was at Rs. 300 on the day the budget was presented, it has now risen to Rs. 312, contributing to the increase in the national debt.

The MP emphasized that it is crucial to carefully consider how these economic conditions will impact future investments in the country.
