Sampath Manamperi, named as a wanted suspect in connection with the discovery of two containers of chemicals allegedly used in the manufacture of the drug Ice in the Middeniya area, is expected to appear before the relevant Magistrate’s Court.
His lawyer informed the Court of Appeal of his intention to surrender. The Court of Appeal, while directing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take measures to ensure Manamperi’s safety following his surrender, also ordered him to notify the investigating officers accordingly.
The directive was issued after the Court of Appeal considered a writ petition filed on behalf of Manamperi by his legal team.
