The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced plans to construct seven additional oil storage tanks at Muthurajawela as part of efforts to expand the country’s fuel storage and distribution infrastructure.
CPC Chairman Janaka Rajakaruna said that four of the new tanks will be dedicated to the storage of aviation fuel.
The project also includes the construction of a 21-kilometre pipeline to transport fuel from Muthurajawela to Katunayake.
In addition, Rajakaruna said plans are underway to build a new pipeline to transport fuel from the Colombo Port premises to Kolonnawa.
