Delhi and its surrounding areas were shrouded in hazardous air on Monday as a dense blanket of smog enveloped the city.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that many areas, particularly in eastern Delhi and nearby regions, recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of around 450, classified as “severe” under air pollution standards.
Over the past few days, worsening air quality has caused breathing difficulties for residents, with government hospitals reporting a surge in patients suffering from respiratory ailments, local media said.
Authorities have issued health advisories urging people to avoid outdoor physical activities unless absolutely necessary.
