Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Tillakaratne departed for Pakistan yesterday (November 19) morning on an official visit, following instructions from the Minister of Sports.
The Ministry of Sports confirmed that the visit is in response to an official invitation extended by the Government of Pakistan. During his visit, Deputy Minister Tillakaratne will attend the Sri Lanka–Pakistan–Zimbabwe Tri-Twenty-Two Series and meet with members of the Sri Lankan cricket team to boost their morale.
Upon his arrival in Islamabad, he was received by Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan Rear Admiral (Retd) Fred Seneviratne.
The Sports Ministry stated that the tour is being closely monitored given the current situation in Pakistan. The Deputy Minister aims to enhance the mental well-being of the Sri Lankan players, helping them maintain a positive mindset and strengthening their confidence ahead of the remaining matches.
