The ‘Dream Destination’ programme was officially launched today with the goal of modernising 100 railway stations across the country under a public-private partnership.
Implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation in collaboration with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, the programme seeks to upgrade stations with the support of private sector sponsors.
The first project, launched in Galle, will see the renovation of the Thalpe railway station, funded by Star Garment.
The initiative aims to create a clean, modern, and inclusive railway network that enhances safety and comfort for all passengers, including those with special needs.
