Enhanced Showery Weather Expected in Several Provinces

The Department of Meteorology has announced that showery conditions are expected to intensify over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces starting today (30) and continuing over the next few days.

Key Weather Highlights:

  • Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, and Matale District:
    Showers or thundershowers are likely to occur at times. Certain areas may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm.
  • Elsewhere:
    Showers or thundershowers are expected in the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is possible in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces.
  • Winds:
    Fairly strong winds, ranging between 30-35 km/h, may occur in the Northern, Eastern, and North-Central provinces.
  • Misty Conditions:
    Morning mist is expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.

The Meteorology Department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks associated with localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
