An Extraordinary Gazette notification has been issued announcing the Public and Bank Holidays for the year 2026.
The notification has been issued under the powers vested in the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government by Section 04 of the Holidays Act, No. 29 of 1971.
Accordingly, Dr. A. H. M. H. Abayarathna, Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, has officially declared the dates listed in the Schedule of the Gazette as Public and Bank Holidays for the year 2026, in accordance with the authority granted to him under the Act.
The full list of holidays is available in the Gazette for reference by all government institutions, banks, and the general public.
