A papare band and street drama captured the attention of residents in Maligawatta on 13 September, raising awareness about online scams affecting grassroots communities.
The drama brought together elders and young people in the area, who shared their experiences of falling victim to online fraud while enjoying their usual afternoon activities, including tea time, football and cricket.
Directed by Navayuga Kugarajah, the street drama was performed by the Kannaki Kalalaya and Ilanko drama group with the support of the GeNext Youth Club in Maligawatta.
Factum plans to take the street drama series to other communities and provinces in the coming months, with the aim of strengthening grassroots awareness and knowledge on how to stay safe from online scams.
