The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has announced that swift measures will be taken to provide outstanding insurance compensation to farmers who suffered crop losses due to the floods in November during the 2024/25 ‘Maha Season.’
As part of this initiative, Rs. 202 million will be credited to the bank accounts of 9,368 farmers in the Batticaloa District tomorrow (Feb. 19). Additionally, Rs. 98 million will be disbursed to 6,671 farmers in the Trincomalee District by February 21.
So far, a total of Rs. 306 million has already been transferred to a portion of the affected farmers in Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Trincomalee as insurance compensation for their damaged crops.
