Former Director of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), ASP Neville Silva, has been remanded in custody until December 13 following his appearance before the Ratnapura Magistrate’s Court today (10).
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested ASP Silva on Monday (09) after launching an inquiry into allegations of misconduct during an investigation handled by the CCD in August 2023.
According to the CID, ASP Silva is accused of acting partially toward a complainant in the case and has been found to have aided and abetted in an incident involving abduction and wrongful confinement.
The ongoing investigation underscores the commitment to addressing allegations of abuse of power within law enforcement agencies.
