Former SIS Chief Suresh Sallay Suspends Hunger Strike While in CID Custody

Former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Suresh Sallay, has suspended the hunger strike he launched while in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to reports, Sallay decided to end the fast following advice and representations made by his legal counsel.

The former intelligence chief, who was arrested in connection with ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, began the hunger strike while being held in CID custody.

He was subsequently admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where he has remained for more than two weeks receiving medical treatment.

Sallay continues to remain in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department as investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks proceed.
