“Ghosts Are Undermining SJB-UNP Unity” – Ravi Karunanayake

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake says that unity between the UNP and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is crucial for the country’s political stability, but is being sabotaged by two individuals acting behind the scenes within the UNP.

Speaking at a media briefing, Karunanayake stressed that the UNP should not allow its future or potential alliances to be dictated by hidden agendas.

“There are two individuals operating like ghosts within the party. They are deliberately obstructing efforts to unify the UNP and SJB at a time when the country needs it most,” he said.

He added that similar disruptive figures may exist in other parties as well, and emphasized the importance of political unity in serving the will of the people.

Karunanayake also remarked that the UNP does not belong to any one individual, and that Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has become a hostage to these internal influences.

“This is about the voters who have supported these parties. We owe it to them to work together, not to let hidden forces tear us apart,” he concluded.
