The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced a decision to launch a continuous island-wide trade union action starting January 23.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the GMOA Executive Committee held today (19).
The Association stated that the 2026 budget proposals have failed to address the core issues faced by doctors and the wider health sector, leading to growing dissatisfaction among medical professionals.
The GMOA noted that it had temporarily suspended the proposed trade union action following discussions with the President and the Minister of Health.
However, the Association warned that due to the absence of further consultations and the government’s failure to honor agreements reached, it has now decided to proceed with trade union action.
