Gold prices in Sri Lanka have risen sharply following a significant surge in the international gold market.
As of today (01), global gold prices have climbed by USD 4,238, marking one of the steepest increases recorded in recent months.
In response, domestic gold prices have adjusted accordingly. Compared to November 25, 2025, gold prices in Sri Lanka have increased by Rs. 5,500. Notably, prices have risen by Rs. 2,000 within today alone.
In the Colombo Pettah gold market, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign has now reached Rs. 314,700.
Meanwhile, traders report that the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign, which stood at Rs. 336,000 on November 25, has risen to Rs. 342,000.
