Gold prices in Sri Lanka have risen sharply by around Rs. 12,000, reflecting an increase in global gold market rates.
According to traders at Colombo Sea Street, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign climbed to Rs. 380,000 today (03), up from Rs. 368,000 recorded yesterday (02).
Meanwhile, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign increased to Rs. 349,000, compared to Rs. 338,000 on the previous day.
In line with these developments, the global price of gold was recorded at USD 4,816 per ounce today.
