Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, says that although the International Monetary Fund makes various statements from time to time, the government must focus solely on doing what is right.
Speaking to the media, he noted that the IMF, which praised the government’s performance six months ago, is now highlighting shortcomings.
Karunanayake emphasized that the government should not rely on foreign advice to make the right decisions.
He added that priority must be given to addressing the country’s pressing challenges, particularly poverty and unemployment.
