Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, has commented on the government’s plans to privatize the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), stating that the government has effectively accepted the need for privatization.
However, he stressed that the process must be carried out through the proper procedures and emphasized the importance of fostering competition.
Karunanayake further pointed out that although the CEB has been divided into five units, the government has yet to clarify how their functions will be managed.
He added that what is ultimately required is a workforce that performs its duties with satisfaction and a clear vision for the future.
