Former UNP Deputy Leader and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake says that while the government claims it will provide loans of up to Rs. 50 million to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, the public needs a clear explanation of how the process will work.
He pointed out that if the government expresses willingness to provide financial relief but the banks fail to cooperate, it could lead to a serious crisis.
Karunanayake emphasized that the government must clearly explain how these proposals will be implemented, rather than making statements for appearances.
He added that although the announcement promises Rs. 50 million, entrepreneurs may not actually receive the expected amounts when the funds are disbursed.
