A new digital facility has been introduced through GovPay to provide relief to people affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions in Sri Lanka.
The mechanism has been implemented to make contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund, established by the Ministry of Finance, more convenient and transparent.
According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, the upgraded system now enables anyone to make instant donations at any time through the state payment portal, GovPay. Donations are credited to the fund in real time, allowing the public to contribute easily from home or any location. The Ministry emphasized that the entire process is fully transparent.
Donations to the Disaster Relief Fund can be made via several commercial banks and authorised FinTech applications linked to GovPay.
