Health authorities have warned that the risk of Leptospirosis (commonly known as Rat Fever) has significantly increased due to the recent rainy conditions affecting several areas.
Officials report that the number of Leptospirosis cases in 2024 has already surpassed those recorded during the same period last year.
Groups particularly at risk include farmers engaged in cultivation activities in muddy and waterlogged areas, individuals affected by floods, workers frequently operating in paddy fields, and those employed in mines or other water-related occupations.
Authorities are urging the public, especially those in high-risk professions, to take necessary precautions to prevent infection.
