Showers or thundershowers are expected at times today (04) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The Department warned that heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.
Strong winds with speeds of approximately 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph can be expected across other parts of the island.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks and damage caused by temporary localized strong winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall associated with thundershowers.
Authorities have advised residents, particularly those in vulnerable areas, to remain alert for possible weather-related disruptions.
