The Meteorology Department has forecast showers or thundershowers at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Hambantota districts.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in several other areas during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in parts of the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Polonnaruwa, and Hambantota districts.
Additionally, fairly strong winds of 30-40 km/h are expected at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and North-Western provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
