Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and Member of Parliament, Ravi Karunanayake, has stated that he entered Parliament through an alliance formed specifically to protect the UNP.
In an interview with ceylonwire.lk, Karunanayake explained that the alliance was established to defend the party from two individuals whom he described as “posing as two demons” and attempting to destroy it.
While acknowledging that various people have expressed differing views on the matter, the MP insisted that the United National Party continues to be represented within the alliance.
He further emphasized the importance of unity among all opposition parties, stating that mutual respect and collective strength are essential—particularly in the context of the upcoming local government elections.
